Main Competition
Director, screenwriter, actress. The Dog Who Travelled by Train (also known as Lampo, the Travelling Dog), which she directed, won a Platinum Ticket – an award given out by Stowarzyszenie Kina Polskie. It also won the Best Film award in the Elements +6 category this year at the Giffoni Film Festival and was recognized as the best Polish film for young audiences and received the ZAiKS award at the 10th IFF Young Horizons. The Dog Who Travelled by Train was also awarded the Janusz Korczak Golden Lion Cubs Award at the 48th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. In 2022, the same award was given to Magda’s earlier film Detective Bruno. She is also an award-winning screenwriter (Behind the Blue Door, The Black Mill) and an Ambassador of the Film Educators Team.
Film producer and director specializing in productions aimed at children. Co-founder of the Grupa Smacznego / GS Animation studio, which creates animations, TV series and films for both children and mature audiences. He has worked on numerous acclaimed projects, including the series Grand Banda, Mami Fatale and Basia, and the feature film ROCK BOTTOM, which premiered in the main competition at the Annecy International Animation
Film Festival this year. For five years, he served as president of the Polish Animation Producers Association (SPPA), actively working to develop the animation industry in Poland.
His works were presented at many international festivals, winning recognition from both the critics and the audiences.
Journalist writing about the world of film and TV series, co-host of the Sobotni Seans podcast. After a two-year adventure with the Metro daily, he joined Wyborcza for over 10 years – initially as the main page publisher of Wyborcza.pl and a news journalist, and later, he became a permanent resident of Wyborcza TV and the culture section of GW. In his previous life as a graphic designer and colorist, he co-created comics, so now he writes about them on the pages of Książki. Magazyn do czytania. When his eyes start to water from looking at the screen, he reaches for his bass guitar or goes to the mountains to sleep under the stars.
Discoveries’ Competition
Educator and film/pop culture critic. Constantly discusses films and series – with viewers whenever the opportunity arises, with creators at festivals, with other critics in the media, with students at the University of Warsaw and SWPS, and most importantly – with children and youth as part of film education programs. Host of the Warsztat Filmowy program on Red Carpet TV. On the Internet, she operates as Kajutex and talks about films, literature, and pop culture. She also produces audio and video materials under Kajutex Studio banner. In 2024, she was nominated for the Polish Film Institute Award in the film criticism category.
Journalist with Radio 357, author of audio reports, radio plays, and the first Polish journalistic podcast about arthouse cinemas, Do kina i na film, published by Stowarzyszenie Kin
Studyjnych. Whenever she’s not on the radio, she is at the cinema. Reports on film festivals, talks to creators, speaks and writes about cinema. Collects memories in the form of recordings, and is inspired by cinema when creating audio reports. Believes in life outside of radio, but does not practice life outside of film.
Film critic and journalist, PhD in humanities, academic lecturer. Host, author and originator of the KINOrozmowa program on YouTube (conversations with actors, directors, and experts in the field of film and series). Author of Inny świat? Kino autorskie Doroty Kędzierzawskiej. Member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) and the European Film Academy. Lecturer at the Warsaw Film School, specializing in the history of film and Polish and European contemporary cinema. Host of the Za drzwiami kina Atlantic film cycle at the Atlantic cinema in Warsaw. In 2023, he was nominated for the Polish Film Institute Award in the film criticism category.
Young Horizons Competition Jury for the best Polish production
Co-author of the TV series High Water, which was awarded the Golden Eagle 2023 for the best feature series, and the Polish Screenwriters Guild Award for the best script for a feature series. Author of animations and two bestselling series for audioteka.pl: the family crime comedy Sierżant Cuff and the horror series Anima, which were successful both in Poland and abroad. Graduate of the Czech FAMU International and the New York Film Academy. Volunteer for development aid in Nairobi, Kenya. She completed internships at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington. English teacher and translator for Mrs. Irena Sendlerowa.
Director and screenwriter, graduate of the Gdańsk University of Technology and the Film Directing Department of the Film School in Łódź. After graduation, he completed an internship on the set of Roman Polański’s Rosemary’s Baby at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, worked as a second director on films by Krzysztof Kieślowski and Roman Załuski, as well as the Danish director Soren Cragh Jacobsen. He has made dozens of documentaries and feature films, including the first Polish SF film based on Stanisław Lem’s short stories Inquest of Pilot Pirx, and the horror film The Wolf. Creator of the childrens’ fantasy film Odlotowe Wakacje, which was one of the first Polish films to CGI.
Journalist of the cultural section of Gazeta Wyborcza. He writes and talks about films. For years, he also worked with the daily Metro, Aktivist and the Polish edition of Esquire. He has a radio voice and a rather limited television experience – as a child he appeared several times on Domowe przedszkole. In the cinema, he usually takes sits on the far side of the seat row, by the aisle. A psychologist by education, a football fan by passion. Privately, a father of almost 11 year old Hania.
Young Horizons Jury
Freshman at the XII LO in Wrocław on an interdisciplinary profile. In her free time, she loves experimenting in the kitchen, creating her own recipes and mixing flavors from different corners of the world. She is interested in all forms of art, and her greatest pleasure is painting on glass, collage and linocut. Her greatest passion is music and singing – she develops her skills every day in a vocal group and a band called KSHYKI. She has a special bond with cinema, because from an early age she has participated in the „horizons” festivals, discovering different cultures and film forms.
Julia is 12 years old and she is interested in acting and theatre. She also loves singing and she is passionate about crocheting.
Natalia is 12 years old and goes to the 6th grade. She loves reading books, creating DIY, and uses tons of hot glue. She is interested in painting, horse riding, and her room is chaotically tidy.
Documentary Competition
Cinematographer, director, educator. Author of the feature-length documentary film Towards the Sun, which premiered at the 21st Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival in Warsaw. Works as a cinematographer on documentaries, feature films, and music videos. Her debut as a cinematographer – the feature film Mum, directed by Joesef
Ouarrak – was shown in 2024 at the Ann Arbor Film Festival. Graduate of Film Image Production at the Film School in Katowice. Co-founder of fDOP – a collective of professional
female cinematographers from Poland working internationally.
Psychologist, certified addiction treatment specialist, neurotherapist. Author of well-received books, including Madame Monday. Po dorosłemu and Co ze mną nie tak? O życiu w dysfunkcyjnym domu, środowisku, w Polsce i o tym, jak sobie z tym (nie) radzimy. Deals with popularizing knowledge about mental health in the media and in popular science magazines.
Educator, special education teacher, therapist, dog therapist. For 26 years associated with education in Warsaw, and for 20 years with the Primary School with Integration Departments
No. 30 in Warsaw. Lecturer at the Maria Grzegorzewska University. Initiator of community activities in Praga Północ, implementer of workshops and cultural education projects, substantive co-author of engineering programs for children. Volunteer at the Dom Wsparcia dla Powstańców Warszawskich and winner of many prestigious awards and decorations, including the Honorary Badge for the Protection of Children’s Rights. Nominated for the
Irena Sendler Award For Repairing the World. Teacher of the Year 2023.
ECFA – European Children’s Film Association
Chief education specialist at the Andrzej Wajda Centre for Film Culture, creator of educational projects, she coordinates and runs film workshops for children and young people, including Trampolina do Kina, an educational film workshop for the youngest viewers and the educational part of the LET’S DOC Documentary Film Festival for Young Audiences. Graduate of the Cinematography Department at the Film School in Łódź and Cultural Animation at the Faculty of Polish Studies of the University of Warsaw. Cinematographer, co-organizer of many exhibitions, workshops and photography plein-airs. Long-time president of the „poniekąd” Photographers’ Association.
Senior specialist at Koulukino (School Cinema Association), which promotes film education, film knowledge, and school cinema screenings in Finland. Board member of the Finnish Cinema Society, Finnish Media Education Society, and ECFA. Currently completing a PhD on children’s film and film education at the University of Tampere.
Since 2024, part of the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People, where he serves as the festival’s artistic director. Since 2000, he has been associated with the broadly understood cultural and audiovisual industry, holding various creative, technical and administrative positions (sound engineer, theatre lighting designer, actor, web designer, editor, translator, production manager). Current president of the European Children’s Film Association (ECFA).

Graduate of Visual Communication at the Institute of Design of the Koszalin University of Technology and scholarship holder of the Erasmus-Socrates Program at the Universidad de Granada Facultad: Bellas Artes (2005-2006). Since 2014, specialist in film promotion and education at Darłowski Ośrodek Kultury. Since 2015, Artistic Director of the Scandinavian Film Festival, one of the most important and recognizable events organized for 23 years at the Bajka Cinema in Darłowo. Since 2022, PR specialist and literary secretary at Bałtycki Teatr Dramatyczny in Koszalin. Four-time winner of the TYTAN PRACY award, given out by Kino Szkoły to coordinators in the Education of young viewers category. In love with films and film music.
Expert of the Film Educators Team. Graduate of Cultural studies (specialized in film studies) at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Silesia, and Organization of film and television production at the Faculty of Radio and Television of the University of Silesia. She’s passionate about Balkan cinema and the works of Michael Haneke. On a day-to-day basis, she looks after the Kadr Cinema in Dąbrowa Górnicza and the Muza Cinema in Sosnowiec, where she organizes meetings as part of the Media and Social Education Program of Kino Szkoła and other events for children and youth. Co-organizer of the 4th edition of the Regional Film Competition – Mój pomysł na film! Creator of Kanapowy Klub Filmowy.
Manager of the Światowid Cinema in Elbląg, film educator and author of Polish and international projects dealing with the development of cinema and film. Originator and organizer of many cinema initiatives aimed at children and youth, including the Family Film Festival at the Światowid Cinema (fourth edition in 2024). Privately, mother of 10-year-old Blanka and an enthusiast of books, films, and broadening of ones horizons.
