14-year-old Ruka makes friends with two boys raised by sea creatures. Umi and Sora can live underwater! Together, the three of them will have a chance to solve a riddle of bizarre occurrences and singing whales.

14-year-old Ruka feels lost. She doesn’t get on well with other girls at school, she has constant arguments with her mum at home, and her dad spends all day working at the local oceanarium. One day, Ruka visits him at work and meets an intriguing boy named Umi. Umi feels at home underwater and swims without an oxygen mask, like a fish. It turns out that the boy and his brother Sora were raised in the sea by dugongs – large marine mammals that resemble sea cows or walruses. Now, the boys are under the care of the oceanarium. The boys have a unique connection with the sea and they can hear the whale song. Umi and Sora decide to solve the riddle of mysterious sea anomalies and alarming changes in the environment. Ruka helps them and finds her own place in the dazzling sea world.
