Raining Cats and Frogs

La Prophétie des grenouilles

reż. Jacques-Rémy Girerd
France 2003 / 90’
Polish voiceover

The frog pack is nowhere near to giggle. The matter is a serious one because, according to them, the coming downpour is going to last for forty days and nights. To survive, the animals have to figure out that it's best to stick together.

The clever amphibians know more about water than anybody else, so they alert Ferdinand in advance about the threat. The man, a temporary host of a large zoo, together with his wife Juliette and two grandchildren Tom and Lili, tries to save all the species. Like the biblical Noah, he takes the helm of the ship, which is in fact a tractor tyre. Although the rain finally stops and everyone has passed through with dry feet, a different problem arises. The animals are hungry and have only potatoes left to eat. The French animation is a reminder of the importance of showing solidarity in times like these.

Did you know that…

even though frogs can't really predict the future, they are remarkable for many other reasons? They absorb water through their skin, they sleep with their eyes open, and some change colour when they are threatened.
