Berlinale Meets Fußball – set

To celebrate this year’s European Football Championship, the Berlinale Festival inspired filmmakers to create shorts about young football enthusiasts, who find joy and solace in sports.

The protagonists of these films not only come from different countries but they also differ in age, gender, and level of sports skills. They all have one thing in common – they play football. These six stories about members of German youth football clubs highlight the themes of local community building, inclusivity, and mutual support. Football is what connects the young protagonists, and the pitch is where they meet other people and get an opportunity to find connection and support. These six short documentaries are part of a larger film project that celebrates UEFA Euro 2024. The project was initiated by the renowned Berlin International Film Festival.
