Michael and his dog Stella end up on an uninhabited island… well, not entirely uninhabited. Among the palm trees, the lianas, and the wildlife, he meets a man who invites him to a beautiful but endangered world.

As a result of a big storm, 11-year-old Michael is swept overboard and wakes up on a beach, without his parents. His mind starts creating the darkest scenarios. However, a stranger sees him from a distance and secretly gives him fruit and drinking water at night. The man is like a Japanese Robinson Crusoe. He doesn’t say much, avoids ships, and keeps Michael at bay. Will the two castaways find common ground – and a common language? Kensuke’s Kingdom is a timeless story about a man living in harmony with nature and about the power of human relationships.
