Lotte Reiniger’s Fairy Tales – set

Lotte Reiniger is a German director who was one of the pioneers of animation and who created unusual films using the cut-out technique. She developed unique cinematic worlds based on classic fairy tales, cutting out intricate characters and detailed decorated backgrounds from paper.

Lotte Reiniger loved classic fairy tales and enjoyed adapting tales by the Grimm Brothers or Hans Christian Andersen for the screen. The set of films we are presenting includes four stories with a core message that says it’s good to help each other. Kindness returns to Thumbelina when she herself is in need. In The Frog Prince, the princess will understand that you should keep your word. The Grasshopper will lend a helping hand to the Ant, and Snow-White and Rose-Red will welcome a lost bear to their home. The characters will learn an important lesson: don't judge others too hastily.
