Photography is the art of time and light. By illuminating the photos long enough we can achieve incredible effects. Light paintings that look as if they were painted using a thick paintbrush will appear on the camera display when we set it up properly.
Shutter speed is the key element during creating paintings using flashlights, lamps and colorful led lights. The shutter is the camera's eye - when it's open long enough it can capture what it sees. When you move the flashlights in a circular motion, the camera will capture a bright circle growing out of the darkness. Not everything is that simple though. To create paintings with light you need the right conditions. You'll find them here. In MediaLab we'll help you capture the elusive - strings of light and flashes will become your paintbrushes and help you understand the laws of the photography art.
