A missile hits the ceiling of the house of 14-year-old Zeina, who lives in war-torn Syria. Owing to the breach, she sleeps under the stars for the first time and befriends a neighbourhood boy, Amer.

The title of the film literally translates as “migration” in Arabic. Zeina's mum has been thinking about her and considering moving to a different, safer country, but her dad, Moutaz, is adamant about staying in the family home. At the same time, a line unexpectedly appears in a hole hollowed out in the roof of the flat and is lowered by the girl's peer, Amer. This resolute boy brings a lot of hope and joy into the heroine's everyday life. Together, they gaze at the sky, watch films on a projector, and their conversations never seem to end. Even in difficult circumstances, it turns out that it is not worth giving up on dreams and chasing freedom.

Did you know that…

the world premiere of the film was held at last year's Venice Film Festival, in the Orizzonti Extra section? It won the Audience Award.
