One in a Million

Whitney and Yara may live on two different continents but they are connected by the internet and their passion for rhythmic gymnastics. The camera follows the girls as they grow up, discover themselves and their interests, and learn to deal with emotions. It also shows a journey towards coming out.

Whitney is a US gymnast. She grows up under the eyes of her online community: she runs her YouTube channel with her dad, posting regular videos documenting her life and training. Yara, also a gymnast, is a huge fan. She lives in Germany and follows her idol on social media. The girls hit puberty and begin to experience complex emotions. Whitney learns to cope with her loneliness through music. Yara falls in love for the first time and comes out to her family and friends. The girls gradually discover who they really are and what they want in life.
