Two protagonists end up on different islands. Paul and his family are forced to spend a night far from the civilised world. Ellie sets out to visit a bird oasis. Both are about to discover the natural world in closeup – they will remember their adventures forever.
As every year, Paul and his family have a picnic on Callot Island. The feast is in full swing when they discover that they cannot go back to the mainland that night. When his close ones are sound asleep, the boy must face the unpredictable wilderness. Ellie has just entered a new school and she’s about to discover a legendary island full of birds. She has to return an ornithology book to the librarian who lives on the island. The protagonists of these unique hand-drawn stop-motion animations visit different places but they both travel to discover their own selves.

Did you know…?
The Callot Island – the place where the protagonists of Summer 96 go picnicking – is real. It’s located in Brittany, a lovely region in northwest France. And it’s really only accessible on foot at low tide!
