Far out! Young Horizons’ MediaLab during the 28th Science Picnic

The 28th Science Picnic, with its slogan “It’s Going to Be Cosmic!”, took place this Saturday, 10 May, at the PGE Narodowy in Warsaw. The Young Horizons’ stand drew a large crowd! MediaLab – our interactive playground – captured the attention of children and their parents as they played together in a space where film meets technology. See our photo report!

What was happening at the MediaLab? A lot! The participants of the event created their own animated stories in Story Scope by arranging encoded colored blocks. There was no shortage of cosmic attractions: Astra VR allowed the bravest participants to sit behind the wheel of a spacecraft during a research mission and thanks to NASA 360° they travelled deep into virtual reality to feel like real astronauts!

The Science Picnic, gathered nearly 700 shows, 152 institutions and attracted 40 000 visitors! Other attractions included Hermaszewski’s capsule, tasting of the space menu and an astronaut exam. MediaLab fit in perfectly into the cosmic themes of the event, showing that film education combined with new technologies is as fascinating as the conquest of space!

MediaLab returns in September!

The public had an opportunity to meet MediaLab during the previous editions of the International Film Festival Young Horizons. This year, it will take place 17 September – 5 October 2025 and it will accompany the 12. edition of the festival. See you there!
