About

The Young Horizons Festival

The best live-action films, animations, and documentaries in the world; creativity-boosting workshops; inspiring meetings with filmmakers (including young actors); talks about films; and great fun! That’s what makes the Young Horizons International Film Festival. Each year, in September and October, you are invited to visit the colourful world of cinema. No matter if you are a child, a teen, or an accompanying adult, you will surely find something interesting for yourself. Together, we will experience the first screenings, grow up, and set sail to go beyond the horizon.
The Young Horizons International Film Festival takes place in Warsaw, Wrocław, and nearly 20 other towns and cities in Poland. Since 2020, it has also been made available online. We make sure to present age-appropriate quality films of high artistic, thematic, and production value. The Young Horizons Festival is the continuation of Kids Kino IFF.

10th Young Horizons International Film Festival

For nine years, we had the pleasure to host you at the Kids Kino International Film Festival. This year, you are also invited to the festival. Its 10th edition has a new name: Young Horizons. The festival grows and evolves, never ceasing to present and popularise the best productions, including Polish premieres.

From 30 September to 8 October 2023, the festival will take place on-site in Warsaw, Wrocław, and nearly 20 other towns and cities in Poland. The programme will include a number of thematic sections: both those you know from previous editions and new ones.

The festival is addressed to young viewers. Since the beginnings in 2005, the team of the Young Horizons have worked with the objective of providing the audience with access to quality films of high artistic, thematic, and production value. So, the educational programme gave rise to reviews of films for children, film distribution, and – in 2014 – the festival. The upcoming jubilee edition will be filled with unique premieres, inspiring live-action, animated, and documentary films, interesting meetings with directors and actors, and other special events.

As part of the Main Competition, the most captivating international productions will be evaluated both by the jury members and the festival audience. The jury will also assess films in the Discoveries Competition and the Short Documentaries Competition to select the winners and announce them at the festival gala.

Selected films from the programme, alongside additional resources, will be made available online on a special platform from 12 to 29 October.

This year, the festival will be once again accompanied by the international co-production forum, also under a new name: Young Horizons Industry. Every year, Warsaw is visited by more than 300 representatives of film industry who share their expertise, find co-production and distribution partners, and pitch new film and series projects for young audiences. In previous years, the event was attended by representatives of Disney+, Canal+, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, and others. Young Horizons Industry will take place from 4 to 6 October.
