Casper and Emma – Best Friends is an adaptation of the best-selling book in Norway written by Tor Åge Bringsværd and illustrated by Anne G. Holt. The adventures of the two preschoolers, with songs and animated parts, tell a story about friendship as well as the difficulties of dealing with new situations in the lives of five-year-olds, like the first day at kindergarten or meeting new schoolmates.

Emma is about to celebrate her fifth birthday. She is convinced that it is high time she could get the dog of her dreams from her mother. Casper has just moved into a new house with his family and is nervous about starting kindergarten. The first person he meets there is Emma – thanks to her, the day will not be so difficult for him, and it will also turn out to be the beginning of a great friendship. Casper and Emma and their cuddly companions Leo and Madam Rabbit spend every waking moment together. Thanks to their adventures together, they learn what friendship is and what it means to rely on the help of a best friend.
