Kadr -Fritzi – A Revolutionary Tale Play

The year is 1989 and Germany is divided. Twelve-year-old Fritzi misses her friend who lives in West Germany. She doesn’t want to live in a divided world and joins a peaceful revolution.

East Germany, 1989. Fritzi's friend Sophie goes on holiday abroad, leaving her dog under Fritzi’s care. But in the autumn, Sophie doesn't return to school – she stayed in West Germany. Fritzi notices that the people around her are increasingly divided, and secret meeting are organised more often. The girl witnesses a peaceful revolution. Because she wants to see her friend again and return her dog, Fritzi bravely heads to the border of the divided country. This moving and unique animation explores a child's perspective on the turmoils of history. The filmmakers successfully conveyed the atmosphere of the 1989 transformation in a way that is accessible, yet authentic.
