Did you know...
some giant pumpkins can grow up to 23 kilograms a day and weigh over a tonne?! As much as 94% of their weight is water, which is why they need a special 'diet' and care to grow into such giants.
Do plants have feelings, just like humans? Eleven-year-old Charlie has an incredible bond with nature, which will help her grow a unique pumpkin for the competition in the Pumpkin Capital of the World.
When Charlie Little arrives at her down-to-earth Aunt Dinah's farm, she is yet to find out that she has landed in the land of pumpkin madness. Every year, Mugford holds a competition for the heaviest pumpkin, and Charlie decides to take part. But beware – the opponents never sleep! Sabotage and even a mutant rival are involved! The girl cares for Peter (a name worthy of an extraordinary vegetable!), who is growing like a weed. But will they win? Or will the most valuable prize turn out to be something completely different? Grow is a humorous story about ecology, trust, and the power of intimate connection, reminding us that genuine bonds – just like plants – need to be nurtured with love.
The screening will be accompanied by a short film, A Pain in the Butt (dir. Elena Walf, 6')
