Oopjen escapes from a 17th-century painting – a portrait hanging in a Dutch museum. She asks her for help in finding her sister. Will the precocious Jackie and her new friend succeed?

Twelve-year-old Jackie’s mother works at the museum. While the girl knows it inside out, she will soon face a great challenge there! Oopjen, a woman from a painting by Rembrandt newly added to the institution’s collection, walks out of the frame. The 18th century-lady has a good reason for her escape: she needs Jackie’s help to find her missing sister. This won’t be easy: the museum staff are on Oopjen's trail, while she is finding it hard to get used to the new reality. After all, almost 4000 years ago there used to be no hairdryers, computers, telephones, or even toilets. Full of adventures, Jackie and Oopjen is a lesson in history, empathy, and cooperation.
