Did you know...
the animation, based on the book by British writer Michael Morpurgo, won three British Animation Awards (for best film, script, and soundtrack)?
Together with his dog Stella, Michael finds himself on an exotic deserted island… well, perhaps not exactly deserted. Amongst the palm trees, wild animals, and vines he meets a local resident, who shows Michael a beautiful, if endangered, world.
Following a storm, an eleven-year-old boy wakes up on a beach without his parents. He fears the worst. But soon, a stranger sees him from afar and leaves him some fruit and water during the night. The man, resembling a Japanese Robinson Crusoe, is reserved, avoids ships, and keeps his distance from Michael. Will the castaways manage to connect and find a common language? Kensuke's Kingdom is a timeless tale of man’s alliance with nature and the power of human relationships.
