Flatcat is reading a bedtime story about the ugly duckling to his best friend Stinky Dog. He must stop reading when a nearby street lamp stops working. Stinky Dog wants to know the end of the story so he starts looking for a new light source. He meets Rusty the sheepdog, who works as a night watchman, walking around the neighbourhood with a headlamp. Rusty agrees to lend it to Stinky Dog if he stands in for him on his watch. Will he manage to do that?
