Did you know...
in an interview, director Divine Sung confessed that in Summer's Camera she wanted to create a world that stands in contrast with Korean society and offer LGBTQ+ viewers a safe space to express their identity?
Summer, a photography enthusiast, abandons her passion after the death of her father, who also loved taking photos. Meeting Yeon, the school's football star, will remind her why it is worth capturing extraordinary moments.
They say that a good photo is not about depth of field, but depth of feeling. Summer would agree with that – since the death of her father, an avid photographer, she has put her camera away. But when she falls in love with Yeon, the star of the senior football team, Summer uses up the film her father left unfinished. Developing the photos he took allows Summer to delve into her father's past and bring memories back to life. Thanks to meeting Maru, a local hairdresser, she manages to come to terms with her loss. Summer's Camera is a tender exploration of first love and adolescence in which photography plays a key role in strengthening the sense of connection.
