Oscar® winner Hayao Miyazaki invites us to his world once again. A boy named Mahito longs for his mother. He sets out to a magical place inhabited by both the dead and the living. A place where death ends and life begins again.

After his mother’s death, Mahito and his father leave Tokyo and move to the countryside. The boy has reservations about the new reality but starts to explore the secrets of the house and its surroundings. One day, he meets a mysterious talking grey heron, who unexpectedly becomes his guide. The bird gradually helps the boy unravel the secret of life by taking him to a magical world, where the past is mixed with the present. The Boy and the Heron is the latest animation from the visionary master of anime Hayao Miyazaki, who returns to cinemas after a ten-year hiatus. The film, hailed as a masterpiece in Japan, is a story of loss and the passing of time as well as a display of unlimited imagination.
