Did you know...
the film is the fifth adaptation of Otfried Preußler's children's book, "The Little Witch"? The German writer invented the story for his young daughter, who was afraid to go to sleep because she was scared of evil witches.
Is a good witch one that knows all the spells, or one who follows her heart? Little Witch dreams of joining the adult witches, but first – she must prove herself. Will she choose the right path?
The Little Witch is just 127 years old – she is still a child! She is cheerful, stubborn, and bursting with ideas. Her faithful companion is the raven, Abraksas. When she is caught at a secret witches' sabbath, she is given a year to prove that she can be a 'good witch'. However, the older witches believe that magic should inspire terror. Will the Little Witch conform to their rules, or will she remain true to herself and save her friends from the evil witches in the nearby village? In this adventurous and humorous story, we learn that it is important to stay true to oneself and help others – that is the most valuable magic one can wield. True strength comes from the heart, not magic spells.
