Sunny Dancer

Seventeen-year-old Ivy (Bella Ramsey) has beaten cancer and dreams of nothing but a carefree summer and a few reckless decisions. The most important decision, however, was made by her parents, who send her to a camp for young people who have undergone cancer treatment.

One look at the camp’s website is enough to confirm her worst fears: it will be a painfully boring summer. The countless rules, the tacky promotional video, and the ever-present, forced positivity drive Ivy round the bend, constantly reminding her of something she wants to leave behind. Everything changes when she meets a group of equally rebellious teenagers. The “chemo camp” turns out to be full of outsiders who, like Ivy, simply want to have the best summer ever. Packed with music, energy, and dark humour, Sunny Dancer reminds us that even after the toughest experiences, you can still dance, fall in love, and live life to the full.
