“I don’t want a childhood. I want to be a ballet dancer.” Billy, a boy from a mining town in England, dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. But in his world, there is no room for such dreams – especially in the eyes of his strict father, from whom the boy hides his secret.

Eleven-year-old Billy goes to school every day, spends time with his friend and, as his father insists, attends boxing lessons. Everything changes when he accidentally stumbles upon a ballet class.

His initial reluctance quickly gives way to fascination. With every step, dance becomes more than just an escape from everyday life for Billy. It is a chance for a different life – one he could previously only dream of. However, to make that a reality, Billy will have to face not only his own fears, but also a lack of understanding from those closest to him. Will he dare to fight for his dreams?

Directed by Stephen Daldry, this film is a moving and timeless coming-of-age story that explores courage and the power of passion to change everything. Even today, this beautiful story continues to inspire young people to reach for their dreams.
