In a village hidden in the Chinese mountains, where men are not allowed to enter, young Muyi dreams of a world beyond the boundaries she knows. One encounter will change not only her fate, but that of the entire village.

In an isolated mountain village, life follows long-held customs, and the memory of ancestors is present in every aspect of daily life. Curious about the world, Muyi cannot accept that the answers to all her questions must remain a mystery. When she encounters a travelling opera troupe telling the legend of the Handsome General and his magical helmet, she begins to uncover the secrets of her family. Ancient stories intertwine with reality, leading the girl to face the truth about the past. This is a fairy-tale story of courage, memory, and the search for one’s place between tradition and freedom. Inspired by traditional Chinese ink painting, the film leads viewers through the world of ancient legends like a living painting. The film had its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
