The Mystery Package

For more than two decades, a mysterious parcel filled with presents for the whole family has arrived every Christmas at the home of Inger and Arne Sandnes in Valldal, Norway. It always bears the same message: “Merry Christmas from all of us in Arendal”.

Despite numerous attempts to identify the sender, investigations, and media interest, the sender remains unknown. This Christmas, their grandchildren, nine-year-old Edle and six-year-old Brage, decide to solve the mystery.

Together with their father, Magnus, who received the first parcel, and their mother, Silje, a documentary filmmaker and the director of the film, the children set out oto investigate who is behind this extraordinary gift. What begins as a light-hearted family adventure soon develops into a deeper and more moving story. The children’s investigation uncovers family ties, memories of bereavement, and the emotions that shape their lives. Full of humour, emotion, and unexpected discoveries, it is a story about tradition, memory, and the greatest mystery of all: life and its unexpected twists and turns.
