Block 5

Young skateboarding enthusiasts are devastated: the skatepark in their neighbourhood is set to be turned into a large car park. Mia, the new girl in the neighbourhood, wants to join forces with them to thwart the construction company’s plans. Will she succeed?

Twelve-year-old Mia has recently moved to a new town with her father and is trying to make new friends. It is not easy: she still misses her mother, while her classmates form a close-knit, exclusive group. But difficult times reveal who your true friends are, and that is precisely what happens here. Mia joins a group of skateboarders to help save their local park from demolition. She knows a little more than they do, as her father is supervising the construction work. To preserve the trees and their place for practising tricks, the group will need openness, a willingness to work together, and a little ingenuity.
